Kent County Council represents and works for 1.3 million residents across Kent, from Dartford in the west to Ramsgate in the east, and from Sheerness in the north to Dungeness in the south.
We stand up for the people of Kent and make sure that the county gets its fair share of the resources available nationally. We aim to enhance the quality of life for everyone in Kent with the range of services we provide.
We recognise that the services we provide all add up to a substantial amount and we put a lot of effort into planning for efficiency so that Kent?s residents get good value for their money. Ever since the Government has introduced a star rating scheme for local authorities, Kent County Council has achieved the top four-star rating.
The services we provide include: - Education and learning (e.g. supporting schools);
- Social care and health (e.g. day care and home care services);
- Environmental (e.g. waste disposal and recycling);
- Transport and roads (e.g. road maintenance);
- Cultural and recreation (e.g. arts and sports activities);
- Business (e.g. economic regeneration); and
- Regulatory (e.g. births, deaths and marriages registration).
